More about the news
On May 24, Dairy Manufacturers Inc. announced a recall of 12.4-ounce containers of Crecelac Infant Powdered Goat-Milk Infant Formula with Iron as well as Farmalac Baby Powdered Infant Formula with Iron both 0 to 12 months and Farmalac Baby Powdered Infant Formula with Iron Low Lactose 0 to 12 months because the products failed to meet some of the standards outlined by the FDA concerning infant formulas as the agency put it in a news release, CNN Health reported.
This statement was given by the agency and it said that the company had not presented the products for the necessary premarket notification before they sold them in the US.
The products are available in stores in Texas, and the FDA stated that maybe it is available in other regions of the US.

FDA’s ongoing investigation
However, in its ongoing investigation into the products, the agency revealed on Friday that it had detected Cronobacter contamination in a sample of the Crecelac formula. No Cronobacter was found in the other version of the formula included in the recall following limited sampling.
Furthermore, no sicknesses have been reported due to this recall. However, Cronobacter has the potency to produce major organ infections of the central nerves and blood and may culminate in sepsis and meningitis, CNN Health reported.
Four Cronobacter infections were reported in infants in 2022, where two baby fatalities were said to have been caused by the bacteria, and this resulted in a massive recall of infant formula in a span of which the country was already struggling with shortages.
Sickness by Cronobacter in infants
Generally, it can be stated that infants who contract Cronobacter can suffer from a brain abscess, as well as motor developmental issues, developmental delays, and even death, as per data obtained from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Some of the signs that will tell you that your pet is infected include: There are common signs such as yellowing of the skin and body, high body temperature, poor movements, mood swings, poor feeding habits, and others.
The FDA stated that it is coordinating with dairy manufacturers and distributors to make sure the recall is carried out properly.
In its statement on the matter, the FDA warned parents and caregivers against feeding their little ones with these specific brands.
For all those who are in search of goat milk baby foods, there are some that have undergone the necessary premarket notification, and people who are in need of these foods should discuss with their healthcare providers about any possible substitute products.
