United States: In the report by the Delaware County Health officials, mosquitoes were detected carrying West Nile Virus in Delaware County for the first time in the year.
More about the news
The infected mosquitoes were identified in Concord Township, as the officials confirmed. Moreover, as per the data, dozens of them were trapped and caught at the Concord Dog Park on Tuesday, July 2.
This year, no case of human infection has been reported in the county so far.

Last year, such infected mosquitoes with West Nile Virus were reported in May month. This led Delaware Count to spray adulticide thoroughly at recreational and residential areas in order to eliminate the mosquito population, as CBS News reported.
As per the information given on the Delco health department’s website, the timeline for such sprays can be found.
What more have the officials stated?
According to Melissa Lyon, director of the department, “Routinely checking for standing water sources and discarding potential breeding areas on your property can help reduce the chance for your family and neighbors of getting sick,” as CBS News reported.
As per the health officials report, those who get infected by the West Nile Virus don’t develop apparent symptoms in most cases.
In those patients experiencing symptoms, they would eventually recover from it; however, as officials note, the fatigue and weakness do persist for more than a few weeks.
Various symptoms are development of fever, ache in body parts, joints, sensation of vomiting, diarrhea, and also body rashes.
Moreover, in rare circumstances, such symptoms could also lead to severe conditions, impacting one’s nervous system, and could also aggravate encephalitis or meningitis.
